Reading Session

Step 1: Watch the 3 Videos Below

If you’ve already completed your Reading session, and are looking for English Training, keep scrolling down the page. 

Step 2: Complete the Reading Session Practice Work Below

1. (Reading) Finish Reading practice test that was started during the Reading session on pg 36 of Boot Camp Manual

  • REMEMBER, 8 min 45 seconds per passage!!!
  • Grade it with answers on pg 57 or 59 (explanations start on pg 72)
  • Re-work the problems you missed or found difficult using the Annotated Test explanations on pg 70 or 72 in Boot Camp Manual

2. (Reading) Complete the Practice Reading Passage with multiple texts that is on the ACT® website

  • Tip: Print the entire test and complete it on paper first
  • TIME YOURSELF . . . 8 min 45 sec
  • When finished, scroll down and click “Answer”
  • Scroll up to see the correct answers and explanations

3. (Reading) Re-work/review mistakes on practice tests for Reading

  • RE-WORKING missed questions and THEN reviewing explanations is the single most valuable activity you can do to improve your scores!!!
  • Re-work problems you missed
  • Only AFTER you’ve re-worked the problems on your own, review the explanations
    • Explanations for pg 41 practice test start on pg 114 of “red book”
    • Explanations for pg 337 practice test start on pg 398 of “red book”

4. (Math) Re-work/review mistakes practice tests for Science & Math

  • RE-WORKING missed problems and THEN reviewing explanations is the single most valuable activity you can do to improve your scores!!!
  • Re-work problems you missed, then watch the explanatory video for each of those questions
  •  Click here for video explanations for questions from your third Red Book Math Test.
    • For written explanations to these questions, see the explanatory answers section starting on pg 398 of “red book”
 

Step 3: Take a Full-Length Practice ACT, and Record your Score Online

  • Complete the full-length ACT test beginning on page 337 in your RED BOOK
  • Grade and scale your scantron with the answer key beginning on page 888 in the RED BOOK
  • Click here to enter your score online

English Session

Step 1: Watch the 3 Videos Below

Step 2: Complete the English Session Practice Work Below

1. (English) Finish the English practice test that was started during English session on pg 16 of Boot Camp Manual

  • Grade it with annotations starting on pg 60 or 62 
  • Re-work the problems you missed and/or found difficult using the Annotated Test explanations on pg 60 or  62 in Boot Camp Manual

2. (English) Re-work/review mistakes on practice tests for English

  • RE-WORKING missed problems and THEN reviewing explanations is the single most valuable activity you can do to improve your scores!!!
  • Re-work problems you missed
  • Only AFTER you’ve re-worked the problems on your own, review the explanations
    • Explanations for pg 337 practice test start on pg 398 of “red book”
    • Explanations for pg 625 practice test on pg 684 of “red book”

3. (English) Work on “Problem Area Concepts” from English Diagnostic Checklist

  • Visit https://torchprep.com/Englishchecklist19/
  • Pick 3 concepts from your English Diagnostic Checklist
  • For each concept . . .
    • Read the Purdue OWL guided lesson
    • Print and complete the Purdue OWL OR Chomp Chomp worksheets

** Work through the other ACT® questions for any tests you’ve completed for that concept.

4. (Reading) Complete the Reading test on pg 107 or 109 in Boot Camp Manual

  • Use the Reading strategies and Code Crackers to complete Passages V-VIII
  • Check your answers and explanations when finished on pg 124 or 126 in Boot Camp Manual

5. (Math) Re-work/review mistakes practice tests for Science & Math

  • RE-WORKING missed problems and THEN reviewing explanations is the single most valuable activity you can do to improve your scores!!!
  • Re-work problems you missed, then watch the explanatory video for each of those questions
  • Click here for video explanations for every question from your 4th Practice ACT Math Test
    • For written explanations to these questions, see the explanatory answers section starting on pg 684 of “red book”
  • Then, use your Math Homework Guide to review 2 concepts before the ACT test
 

Step 3: Take a Full-Length Practice ACT, and Record your Score Online

  • Complete the full-length ACT test beginning on page 625 in your RED BOOK
  • Grade and scale your scantron with the answer key beginning on page 904 in your RED BOOK
  • Click here to enter your score online
